About Me

Margrave of Luxembourg is Patrick Colling’s artist’s name.

In 2011 I started painting with acrylic, as a hobby, after heaving expressed creativity by being actor, scene painter, and as a technician for a small professional theatre in Luxembourg.

Once having studied various acrylic techniques autodidactically, I started playing with colours. This finds expression in my creations like “The Burst”, “The View”, and also “Dancing Colors”.

As an abstract artist, I have set out to explore my vision through non-objective forms and figurative allusions. My art evolves out of personal inspiration and ideas. My way of working starts with collecting the colors in my head until they begin to form something, which later is reflected on the canvas. Whether you want to call my art mystical, spiritual, or magical, I like to think of my art as mining the energy of intuitive emotion.

In the same way, a piece of art is created when I talk to people who cannot find a beautiful painting matching their furnishing in size, topic, or color. The indication of size, topic and color for a painting can, however, be a perfect basis for me to develop a work of art.

Many of my paintings, therefore, are in private ownership.
